I’m an Anxiety and Trauma Therapist.

I’m Kimberly.

I help people who have anxiety, past pain, and trauma move from feeling fearful and stuck to feeling inspired and excited about life again.

One of my favorite things about being a therapist is to help clients reignite their inner spark so that they can feel inspired and confident again.

I’m still Kimmie from the block! Ha!

Some things change and other things remain the same. I was affectionately called Kimmie by my mom. As a little girl growing up in The Boogie Down Bronx, I went to public school in the neighborhood. My mother was a foster parent and we always had at least two foster children in the home in addition to the two other biological siblings that were raised with me.

The adult Kimmie from the block dreamt of helping others, so I chose to pursue an occupation in the helping profession. I dreamt of it, chased it, and made it happen. Having the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of other people every day, both personally and professionally, is incredibly fulfilling because I am able to bear witness to the resilience of the human spirit.

After the death of my mother followed by the death of my only child, my conviction to help others only grew. These losses were profound, and shaped both how I showed up to the world, along with the direction my life and career were to move in. While you’re in the middle of dreaming what your life will be like, it’s impossible to predict the package your life lessons will show up in - especially the devastating packages. It’s incredibly important to learn from those lessons, without allowing them to define you, whether it includes:

  • Rediscovering yourself

  • Loving yourself when others leave your life

  • Learning how to incorporate love and loss

  • Understanding how to integrate your experiences in order to reclaim all that you can be, no matter what happens

By embracing the pain I experienced, I learned how to embrace the possibilities for my life. This is where ‘normal’ shifted and instead of feeling like I was lost in a maze, I realized and learned there’s options, strategy, and choice.

One of my superpowers is being resilient and seeing the beauty in bouncing back from life’s challenges. The saying that ‘pain is inevitable and suffering is optional’ has been a guidepost in reminding both me and my clients that our experiences do not define us, because we get to choose how to move forward.

In continuing what I started in my career while embodying those lessons in my personal experiences and deep losses of my mother and son, I continued to be the light as a Social Worker so that others could find their way back to themselves in a new way. I learned the levels and depths of my strength, and realized how much my childhood aspirations truly saved my life.

I believe all the same is true for you, too. Being a social worker has allowed me to bear witness time and time again to the powerful transformation my clients make when they:

  • Choose to show up for themselves

  • Realize the depths of their courage and bravery

  • Allow themselves to be vulnerable - sometimes for the very first time

  • Start speaking their truth

  • Realize they can’t go around an issue anymore - addressing it head on is the ‘way out’

  • Embrace the truest parts of themselves, and become who they were always meant to be

I know what’s possible for you - it’s time for you to discover that too.
