Life hasn’t always been kind to you.

Thinking back, you know that you’ve been through it.

The things you’ve experienced have existed in both large and small ways. From witnessing violence that resulted in tragedy, to losing friends, or having an alcoholic parent who left you to fend for yourself and your siblings - you’re well aware there are many things that have happened to you that changed your life. You thought ‘Maybe this is normal,’ because you just didn’t know any different. But now you catch yourself wondering if maybe it wasn’t so normal… maybe life wasn’t supposed to feel that hard… maybe it wasn’t supposed to hurt that much.

For a long time, you were able to keep it all under control. You were able to cope, you thought you were fine, and that you were strong enough to handle whatever got thrown at you. You did what you were told, and kept your problems to yourself because you were taught to ‘keep it in the family.’ What you didn’t realize was how isolating keeping it to yourself would become. The more you keep everything to yourself, the more you know something is off. You know that you don’t feel good, and you want to talk about it - even if you don’t know what to call the ‘it’ that’s bugging you.

No matter what, though, you realize -

You’re exhausted from trying to manage it all.

Trauma has impacted your life in so many ways.

You know, logically, the past is in the past, but your mind, body, and emotions seem to be perpetually re-living things, as if they are happening now.

You’re terrified of trying to feel better, and failing at it.

At times, you feel flooded with anxiety and dread and have a hard time focusing and being present in your life.

With all the unease running in the background, you're having a hard time enjoying the things that once brought you pleasure.

You just want to feel normal again. It feels like the traumatic experiences you’ve dealt with are keeping you trapped, forever holding your joy hostage.

It was agony to live through the trauma, but it’s torturous to know that it still has its hooks in you.

At times you feel broken like you’ll never heal from it. You were supposed to be the strong one, but behind closed doors, you’re just feeling weaker and weaker.

It’s wearing you down.

You’re overwhelmed.

When you see other people enjoying their lives, you feel so lost and alone. It leaves you wondering why that doesn’t seem like that can happen for you. No matter how bad you want it, no matter how much you keep wondering when it’s going to be your turn… your turn just doesn’t come.

More and more, you’re just feeling powerless.

You’re ready for Trauma Therapy.

‘The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any.’ - Alice Walker

You are so worthy and deserving of feeling better. The most important part of trauma therapy is to leave you not just knowing - but truly believing - that no matter what traumas have happened in your life, they do not define you, your character, or your life. They are simply something that has happened to you.

Trauma can create so many impacts, both emotionally and physically, including:

  • Feeling constantly tense and on edge

  • Being jumpy or easily startled by things you’ve never been startled by before

  • Having difficulty concentrating or focusing, or feeling like you’re in a fog all the time

  • Being irritable and short tempered with the people around you

  • Having nightmares or night terrors

  • Experiencing moments where you feel like the traumatic experience is happening all over again (flashbacks)

  • Struggling to trust people you know logically are safe to trust

  • Being constantly on guard for danger

  • Feeling afraid to go new places, and starting to feel unease even in going places you’re familiar with

  • Having moments of feeling like you’re not connected to your body

  • Losing spaces of time, such as ‘checking out’ for five minutes and then having no memory of those five minutes

When trauma happens, it feels like it’s taken all your power away from you. You can ‘suck it up’ and pretend for a while, but everyone has a limit to how much they can tolerate or handle.

By using specific approaches to addressing trauma, such as Accelerated Resolution Therapy (A.R.T.), you can take your power back, achieve a sense of calm, and uncover the blocks that are keeping you stuck. It’s absolutely possible to take control of your emotions and step back into a place of being in charge of your life again, instead of trauma running it for you.

I specialize in working with Millennials (1980 to 1994) and Generation X (1965-1979) to decrease and control the impact of the trauma that they have experienced. I use a mind-body approach using Accelerated Resolution Therapy. (A.R.T. for short)

Accelerated Resolution Therapy works faster than traditional talk therapy, so you can get back to managing your life, your way, without ever having to actually talk about the trauma that brought you into therapy in the first place. After all, you shouldn’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to or don’t feel ready to.

When you address the trauma you have experienced, with the guidance of a trained trauma therapist, you’ll get the right support for your healing.

You deserve to be supported well.

Trauma therapists are:

  • The ones to help you recognize triggers faster.

  • Highly trained to understand the impact of trauma on the mind and body.

  • Better equipped to help you feel both supported and safe in building trust in them.

  • There to provide support to you, without judgment, as you explore and process the impact of your experiences.

  • Able to get you connected to resources, skill sets, and tools to help you manage the trauma symptoms you’ve been struggling with.

Accelerated Resolution Therapy works directly to reprogram the way in which distressing memories and images are stored in the brain, so that they no longer trigger strong physical and emotional reactions when you think about the original trauma.

A.R.T. uses a combination of creative visualization, somatic awareness, and eye movements to quickly and gently transform the way you remember and respond to past experiences so you are no longer triggered or troubled by symptoms.
