Frequently asked questions

  • Yes. Your privacy is most important. If you need to have information disclosed to anyone, you would have to sign a release to allow that. However, there are exceptions in confidentiality. Suspected child abuse or elder abuse is REQUIRED by law for me to report to the appropriate authorities immediately. If a client is threatening to harm another person, I MUST notify the police AND the intended victim. If a client intends to harm themself, I will make every effort to enlist their cooperation to ensure their safety. If they are NOT willing to cooperate, I will take further measures WITHOUT their permission by law in order to ensure their safety.

  • No. I’m an Out-of-Network provider. I purposely don’t participate with any insurance companies. If I did, they would mandate a mental health diagnosis which would remain on your permanent health record. They would also be able to dictate the amount of sessions that you can have per year. In addition, insurance companies could seek access to your information while you’re in therapy.

  • I have a 24 hour cancelation policy. I can’t fill a therapy slot at the last minute if you late cancel. If you cancel in less than 24 hours, you will be responsible for the full cost of the session.

  • I accept Zelle transactions, along with debit and credit cards. I also accept Vouchers.

  • In my experience, most of my clients are reimbursed a percentage for the cost of their sessions if they have out-of-network mental health coverage. I suggest that you call your insurance company to find out what your deductible is and the amount they reimburse for code 90834 and/or 90837.

    If you decide to use your out-of-network benefits, I will provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance company. You complete a claim form, attach my bill, mail it in and your insurance company will issue you a check. It’s that easy!

  • I have found that meeting weekly improve clients’ progress toward their goals. For that reason, I meet with clients weekly. We will establish a set to time to meet each week and that will be our reoccurring weekly appointment.

  • Yes, I will suggest techniques for you practice at home that will support the work we do in our therapy sessions.

    I have found that clients make significantly faster progress when they do the “in between session” techniques.

    Much of the homework is to support the integration of the deep work we do in session.

  • Generally speaking, during the first 1-2 sessions, we will do a thorough history and establish specific goals for your therapy.

    The subsequent sessions, we will develop a tool kit for dealing with the current stressors that brought you to therapy.

    In the last part of therapy, we will do the deep diving work to help heal the roots of problems that brought you to therapy.

  • Clients feel less anxious, more in control of their thoughts and emotions, and less reactive in their relationships. Overall, they feel less triggered and are able to respond to situations in life, rather than be hijacked by old reactions.

    At the end of therapy, they feel more peace and calm and aren’t limited by old worn out ways of viewing themselves and the world. They experience a new level of freedom.
